When consent is collected

A staff member asks each parent or guardian during enrollment, in person at the center or by phone. A parent can also opt in later by asking any staff member. Texting is optional and is never a condition of enrollment or care.

The script our staff read aloud

“Nana’s Cozy Corner can send you text messages about your child’s care. These are a link to your child’s weekly update, a notice if an incident report is filed for your child, and urgent center notices like closures or weather delays. Message frequency varies, usually one to five messages a week. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Texting is optional and you do not need it to enroll. Our text messaging terms and privacy policy are on our website at nanascozycorner.com.

Do we have your permission to send these text messages to your mobile number, [parent’s number]?”

How the answer is recorded

If the parent says yes, the staff member ticks “OK to text this number” on that parent’s record in Nana’s Brain, our secure staff system. The system saves the consent against that parent’s mobile number together with the date and time it was recorded. If the parent says no, the box stays unticked and that number is never texted.

Only parents and guardians whose record has this consent receive text messages. Numbers are not collected from the website, purchased, or added from any other list.

Confirmation message

When consent is recorded, the parent receives this text:

Nana’s Cozy Corner: You’re signed up for care updates about your child. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

Opting out

A parent can reply STOP to any message or ask staff to untick the box. Either stops all further texts.
